Our statement on the COVID-19 pandemic

Open for business, just not as usual.

As the world experiences this unprecedented global pandemic, we do what we have always done in our 90 years: adapt and move forward together.

We provide innovative AV solutions for 24/7 essential services

Every day, all over the world, our integrated control room solutions give decision-makers on the front lines—from the highest levels of government and national broadcast communications to law enforcement command centers and first responders—quick access to the information they need to make critical decisions.

It’s why keeping our manufacturing facilities open and our production lines running in both Kitchener, Ontario and Shenzhen, China, are so important despite lockdowns in many of the countries we do business.

We continue to both meet production demands and focus on the health and well-being of Christie® people and their families. All Christie employees around the world with the ability to work remotely are doing so until we’re back to business as usual. We’re planning for a full return to work when it’s safe to do so by ensuring we equip all our offices and facilities with enhanced sanitation protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE), and social distancing best practices.

Customers around the world use Christie technology in the fight against COVID-19

Monitoring attendance and social distancing in Brazil

Brazilian public health institutions use Christie LCD video walls and video wall controllers in as many as 22 different cities to monitor attendance at public health centers and social distancing in public spaces. By mixing camera images with a third-party software, they can detect the number of infected people in real-time. They can also monitor the number of deaths and the overall status of COVID-19 through television video feeds.

Messages of hope and reassurance in Spain

Callao Square in Madrid hosts the biggest outdoor LED screen in Spain. Powered by two Christie Spyder image processors, the screen displays updated COVID-19 data-from registered cases and recommendations, to messages of thanks to frontline workers.

Keeping hospital visitors informed in Portugal

At the Medicine School of the Hospital de Santa María in Lisbon, Christie 1DLP® laser projection in the main auditorium displays content related to COVID-19.

Christie projection displays COVID-19 updates for frontline healthcare workers

Shanghai Children’s Medical Center uses Christie 1DLP® projection to display COVID-19 updates to hospital staff in their auditorium. Wincomm installed several Christie HS Series, GS Series, and Captiva ultra short throw laser projectors. Originally intended to display presentations for staff meetings and medical research conferences, the use of the projectors has been swiftly repurposed to display COVID-19 information and updates for hospital staff on the front lines.

Christie technology powers Guodian Changyuan Electric Power Company

Guodian Changyuan Electric Power Co., Ltd, in Wuhan, China, uses Christie HS Series 1DLP® laser projection with BoldColor™ Technology to display regular COVID-19 updates to staff in the company’s lecture hall. Installed by Wincomn in December 2019, the D20WU-HS is their Christie projector of choice for events such as business and shareholder meetings, as well as stage performances during New Year’s Day and other festive occasions.

Christie helps to celebrate 2020 graduates in Oklahoma

With the cancellation of traditional graduation ceremonies due to COVID-19, grain elevators in Yukon, Oklahoma were used to display projected photos of recent graduates from the two local high schools. Corey’s Audio Visual worked with the Yukon Chamber of Commerce and used a Christie 3DLP® projector for the tribute to 2020 grads, which lasted three days from May 17-19, from 9pm until 11pm each evening. Parents and grads watched from their cars and lawn chairs, cheering as each graduates’ face was projected onto the grain elevators.

Christie engineering steps up

After healthcare workers on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19 put on their masks, the next layer of defense is a plastic face shield.

When InkSmith, an educational technology company in Kitchener, Canada tweeted a request for help 3D-printing brackets for these PPE face shields, Christie got to work.

"Several Christie engineers noticed InkSmith’s tweet asking for help and brought it to our attention, so we quickly initiated a build," explains Mike Esch, vice president, global engineering.

Esch explains that it takes approximately 14 hours of machine run time to 3D-print 5 brackets. By the end of the first week, Christie donated 50 brackets to the cause.

We are proud to contribute to this amazing initiative that helps protect frontline healthcare workers in Canada.
