Laser illuminated projectors and safety
Better brightness, better contrast, better color. Lower total cost of ownership, lower power consumption, longer life, and virtually maintenance-free operation. It’s not surprising that solid-state laser illumination development and advancements continue and adoption is widespread.
The light produced by a laser illuminated projector – whether it’s a laser phosphor or RGB pure laser light source – poses no more risk than the light from the older lamp-based projection technology they’re replacing. All these projectors emit diffused light. Laser illuminated projectors are just regulated differently, classified as Class 1 Risk Group 3 products, particularly in the U.S. where laser safety training, for example, is mandatory.
Christie’s laser safety awareness training
Any technician who installs or maintains Christie’s Class 1 Risk Group 3 laser illuminated projectors* must take our Christie University laser safety awareness eLearning course.
In the U.S., this training is a requirement of Christie’s FDA laser variance as well as the ANSI Z136.1 American National Standard for Safe Use of Lasers and OSHA. There are several U.S. states that require separate laser registration. This is explained in the training.
Get certified!
Visit Christie University, log in or register for your log-in, and navigate to the course titled CS-ELSA-01 External – Laser safety awareness:
Catalogs > Course Catalog > ELearning > Compliance and Safety > Laser Safety > External – Laser Safety Awareness
Upon course completion, you’ll receive a training certification.
