Soaking up the Sun

Solar technology helps Christie achieve the environmental goal of reducing emissions caused by energy consumption.

Soaking up the Sun with Solar Panels

In April 2014, Ushio America, Inc. (Christie’s parent company) and Christie installed a total of 2,190 solar panel modules on their office buildings in Cypress, California. The panels produce 833,000 kWh annually, reducing CO2 emissions by 814,807 pounds and power consumption by up to 28 percent.

On average, Christie buildings receive 22% of their power from the solar panels. For up to date readings, refer to our location links:

The project also includes a monitoring system that provides real-time web feeds showing the energy produced by the solar panels and environmental offsets of greenhouse gases each day, each month and cumulatively over the lifetime of the installation. The feeds are displayed on Christie MicroTiles® displays in the lobbies of the Ushio and Christie building, allowing visitors insight into one of the ways Christie and Ushio are reducing their carbon footprint.
