Christie enters into home cinema agreement with Habitech
May 04, 2023
WOKINGHAM, United Kingdom – Christie®, a leader in creating and delivering the world’s best visual and audio experiences, has today announced it has entered into a home cinema distribution agreement with Habitech, a leading value-added distributor of specialised products and systems to the UK custom installation industry. The agreement solely covers the UK and sees Habitech add Christie’s 4K range of high-end projectors (both DCI and non-DCI compliant) to its existing home cinema product range.
“We are delighted to partner with Habitech in the home cinema sector,” commented Miles Donovan, senior channel development manager, EMEA, at Christie. “They have a great reputation in the home cinema and custom installation markets and a strong track record of delivering success for their brands. With our cinema heritage, we wanted to find a partner that would be a good fit for us – and in partnering with Habitech, I think we’ve achieved that.”
“We are pleased to be adding Christie’s projectors to our existing portfolio,” says Timmi Thorsen, Sales Director of Habitech. “Their working relationships with Hollywood directors such as James Cameron and Ang Lee over the years, speaks volumes to their matchless quality and cinema performance. We think there’s a real appetite amongst the home cinema community to embrace the very best in projection, and with Christie, that’s what we’ll be offering our customers.”
Following its development and leadership in RGB pure laser illumination and ultra-high contrast lensing, Christie is now poised to shake up the home cinema space. The Christie M 4K25 RGB, for example, has superior colour performance, with almost full BT.2020 colour gamut coverage, typically measuring 98 - 99%+ of BT.2020, at 12-bit colour depth, including better uniformity, and higher peak light output. Under the terms of the agreement, Habitech will be responsible for distributing the M 4K25 RGB, as well as other 4K projectors amongst the Christie portfolio. The two companies are also working on a joint Home Cinema training programme for UK dealers, and plans for a launch event to be held at a prestigious UK film and cinema location will be announced soon.
The agreement is effective immediately.
