Celebrating 20 years with NFTS student talent awards

March 14, 2025

WOKINGHAM, United Kingdom - Christie® celebrates 20 years of partnership with the National Film and Television School (NFTS), championing emerging talent with its ‘Most Promising Student’ award. This year’s Christie prize for Most Promising Student is NFTS Screenwriting MA student Tracey Murray, hailed for her skill, attitude, and application. Tracey received her accolade and a cash prize at the graduation ceremony on Friday, March 7.

“Throughout her time at the NFTS, Tracey has produced exceptional work and developed into a talented writer with great potential, providing tireless help, advice, and support to her fellow students,” said Brian Ward, Head of the NFTS Screenwriting MA. “…her amazing story and the challenges she has overcome in life have made her a brilliant organizer, collaborator, mentor, and friend. She is a ball of positive energy, and Tracey lights up every room she enters. There is no challenge too great for her, yet she remains modest, self-effacing, and incredibly calm. But beyond all this, I don’t doubt that in the years ahead, she will also prove herself to be an outstanding director.”

The Hollywood Reporter again named the NFTS as a top global film school, earning more Student Academy Award nominations than any other film school. Work showcased by NFTS alum last year received prestigious wins, including at BAFTA, the La Cinef prize at Cannes, and a 10th consecutive win at the Grierson Awards. Student work has been screened at some of the world’s most renowned film festivals.

The Christie CineSparks Webinar Series, launched in 2024, featured a webinar hosted by NFTS tutor Lizzie Frankie and discussions by three previous "Most Promising Student" award winners. They shared their career journeys since winning the esteemed award, and the changing landscape of the industry.

“Celebrating young talent over the past 20 years alongside the NFTS has been an honor. The film and television school is a leading institution with a respected global reputation,” says Adil Zerouali, vice president, Sales, EMEA, at Christie. “On behalf of everyone at Christie, we would like to congratulate Tracey for this impressive achievement and look forward to seeing more of her work in the future.”
