CGV chooses CineLife+ projectors

SEOUL – Christie^® is pleased to announce that CGV has signed an exclusive agreement to acquire hundreds of  CineLife+^™ Series cinema projectors featuring the most energy efficient illumination systems on the market for its multiplexes located in South Korea, China, Vietnam and Indonesia over the next three years.

With this acquisition, Christie will supply CGV – South Korea’s largest cinema chain and the fifth largest multiplex theatre company in the world – with state-of-the-art projection systems that bring advanced format capabilities to both premium large-format (PLF) venues and mainstream theatres. These include 2K and 4K RGB pure laser projectors equipped with Christie Real|Laser^™ illumination technology, as well as Series 4 Xenon projectors fitted with advanced cinema electronics that expands the horizons of cinema projection technology for mainstream and PLF auditoriums.

CGV is one of the world’s leading exhibitors with over 4000 screens globally comprising PLF and mainstream auditoriums that cater to patrons of different ages and interests. The CineLife+ projectors will be installed at new sites, as well as replacing aging projectors at existing venues in each country. 

Christie’s CineLife+ projectors are DCI-compliant, offer a new world of color and contrast, provide industry-leading efficiency, a long operational life, and are capable of reproducing 2D and 3D content at 4K resolution and up to 120 frames per second. Together with Christie Real|Laser that offers over 50,000 hours of optimal performance for RGB pure laser projectors, as well as a streamlined UX-designed touch-panel, the CineLife+ Series is at the forefront of modern cinema. 

These high-performance projectors deliver more than 95 percent of Rec. 2020 spec without filtering or color correction, superior contrast ratio, and the capability to reproduce 2D and 3D content at 4K resolution and up to 120 frames per second. The rich, deep and intense colors and contrast create astounding visuals for audiences to enjoy, while delivering significant operational efficiencies to cinema owners such as CGV.
