SÃO PAULO, Brazil – Christie® is pleased to announce that Cine Araújo, one of Brazil’s most established cinema chains, has acquired 44 Christie RGB pure laser cinema projectors featuring Christie Real|Laser™ technology. The projectors, ranging from Christie CP4415-RGB to Christie CP4435-RGB models, are being implemented in several of Cine Araújo’s locations throughout Brazil under Christie’s Cinema Rental Program.
Founded in 1928, Cinematográfica Araújo is one of Brazil’s most traditional cinema operators, with a presence in 10 states and 26 cities, operating a total of 153 screens.
With this latest investment, Cine Araújo will bring advanced pure laser projection to cinemas in cities including Taboão da Serra, Sorocaba, Campo Limpo, Piracicaba, Cabo Frio, Dourados, Duque de Caxias, Mauá, São José do Rio Preto, and Rio Branco. The move reinforces Cine Araújo’s commitment to providing high-quality cinematic experiences to audiences across Brazil.
Christie’s Cinema Rental Program, developed in collaboration with OrionPC, is the pioneer of this type of business model in Brazil, offering a “cinema as a service”. This approach enables exhibitors to acquire the latest RGB and RBe laser projection technology without upfront capital investments. Designed to address the financial challenges faced by cinema operators since the pandemic, the program has played a vital role in supporting the modernization of projection systems in Brazil. The flexible model allows exhibitors to scale their investments according to their operational needs, ensuring long-term sustainability and growth.
For Cine Araújo, the decision to once again choose Christie projectors was based on three key factors. “We selected Christie for the excellent quality of its projectors, the durability of the equipment, and the exceptional after-sales support from OrionPC,” says Marcos Araújo of Cine Araújo.
Araújo also highlights the advantages of the Christie Cinema Rental Program. “This model allows us to quickly transition to laser projection. In addition, in Brazil, rental expenses are considered operating costs, which results in tax benefits. There is also the environmental aspect and the cost savings, as we will no longer need to replace lamps.”
Cine Araújo expressed great satisfaction with the image quality of Christie RGB pure laser projectors. “The brightness and color accuracy are outstanding. We are extremely pleased with the projectors we have and the exceptional experience they provide to our customers,” says Marcos Araújo.
“Our Cinema Rental Program continues to gain momentum, providing exhibitors, both large and small, with the flexibility and cutting-edge technology they need to succeed,” states Ricardo Laporta, regional sales manager, Cinema, Christie Brazil. “This initiative allows cinemas to access best-in-class projection solutions while adapting to evolving market conditions. We are proud to support Cine Araújo in their mission to enhance the moviegoing experience for audiences across Brazil.”
With the addition of these new installations, Christie now has a total of 200 screens operating under this rental model in Brazil, including installations with major Brazilian exhibitors, smaller cinema chains, and independent operators such as Cine Londrina, Paradigma Cine Arte, Cine X, Cineflix, Kinoplex, Multicine Cinemas, Cine Gracher, FAAP, Praia da Costa, Casarão de Ideias, Moviplex, and Cine Quelipe.
OrionPC manages all aspects of the rental program, including financing, installation, maintenance, and repairs, ensuring that cinema operators can focus on delivering high-quality entertainment without concerns over ongoing technical upkeep. The program includes all of Christie’s RGB and RBe laser cinema projectors, covering different resolutions and brightness levels to suit various screen sizes, from boutique cinemas to Premium Large Format (PLF) venues, catering to various needs and budgets.
