SÃO PAULO, Brazil - Christie®, a leader in audiovisual technology solutions for the cinema industry, is pleased to announce that major Brazilian exhibitors Multicine Cinemas and Cine Gracher are embracing its Cinema Rental Program to acquire Christie RGB pure laser projectors for their new multiplexes and to replace lamp-based projection systems.
Christie’s Cinema Rental Program, in partnership with OrionPC, provides exhibitors in Brazil the option to acquire state-of-the-art Christie RGB pure laser projection technology through a service model, at a fraction of the cost of purchasing the new equipment. OrionPC finances, installs, maintains and repairs the equipment using highly trained technicians for the length of the contract. This allows more time for cinema operators to run and grow their businesses with confidence knowing that their screens will always shine brightly with Christie’s latest RGB pure laser projectors.
Multicine Cinemas, a Brazilian cinema chain with 60 screens throughout the country, has equipped its new multiplex in São José’s Itaguaçu shopping center with four Christie CP2415-RGB projectors. The new multiplex has a capacity of 612 seats across its four theatres. The company plans to continue to make use of the Cinema Rental Program for its upcoming openings.
Warley Formiga, executive director of Multicine Cinemas, commented, “In light of the challenging financial landscape facing exhibitors, particularly amidst the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the rental-based approach to acquiring projectors aligns perfectly with our operational realities. It allows us to modernize our cinemas with laser projection technology without burdening our capital, thus enabling us to focus on both modernization and expansion initiatives. Moreover, with OrionPC handling all operational aspects, from monitoring to maintenance, we can proceed with confidence.”
Cine Gracher, established in 1915 and with almost 40 screens in the states of Santa Catarina, Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul, has replaced several lamp-based projectors in two of its cinemas with Christie CP2309-RGB models, with plans for more upgrades in the coming months.
Sandro Gracher, director of Cine Gracher, stated, “For us, Christie’s rental model in partnership with OrionPC is proving to be the best and smartest way for our cinemas to adopt laser technology, which will not only bring us operational savings but also, and mainly, will provide a differentiated experience for our customers, something that we consider essential in the current scenario. Bringing people back to the cinema with superior image quality without the need for a large initial investment is undoubtedly a great advantage at this time.”
With the Christie Rental Program in Brazil, exhibitors of all sizes can realize greater savings with RGB pure laser projectors over lamp-based models, and smaller exhibitors can benefit from government-sponsored economic programs, such as RECINE, with minimal administrative effort. Brazil-based exhibitors can utilize the Christie Rental Program with a simple and easy turn-key contract that can be expanded at the speed of their operations.
“Brazilian exhibitors realize that our model is the most intelligent option to help them meet their financial objectives and budget requirements as they replace their equipment or expand their operations,” concludes Ricardo Laporta, regional sales manager, cinema, Christie Brazil.
